My printing press is broken which I'm very upset about. I can't get it fixed until mid February and hopefully even then I'll have enough money to do so. I have to buy a new press bed and new clamps for tightening. It's all a bit frustrating, but, I'm not letting it get me too down. I've decided instead to play with a different medium. Since all my old tools and equipment arrived from Northern Ireland I've revisited an old passion of mine - WIRE!
I have a joint exhibition with my friend Kyoko in August and she said that if we want plinths will be available so I've been working on some plinthy items. (pieces that would sit nicely on a plinth!) My drawing style is very linear so when I work in wire I find it looks very similar to my drawings/ etchings so hopefully it'll all tie in for the exhibition.

I wonder if I could draw from the wire birds? I love the shadows created when in sunlight. I want to buy more wire to play with....

I am in love with that photo too! It looks like bird shaped scribbles. :) I do hope you are able to fix your press, I can't imagine how frustrating that must be!!
wow , love these ..
seems like a silver lining story!
These are really lovely.
Wonderful!
These are fabulous - I love how plump they all are!
Your birds are wonderful! I just love their purposeful shapes, they seem to capture the essence of "birdness". I hope you get some more wire and do more birds!

These are ABSOLUTELY wonderful! WOW, and your idea of drawing from the wire is fantastic as well. That would make a great show!
I love these!! I hope you get your press fixed but I also hope you'll continue to explore the wire birds.
sooo great!! what an interesting way to imagine you choose! lovely looks
What lovely birds, clever to get the shapes so well. Hope the press gets mended!!
These are wonderful! I love them!
These are wonderful and they are just like your delightful drawings!
These are amazing! I'm not sure which I like more - your drawings or these wire sculptures... Two completely different mediums, but the result is always stunning.
Thank you everyone for your kind comments! This encouragement is driving me forward. I'm enjoying the change of medium but I hope to get the press fixed soon as well. At the moment I have no car, the wheel fell off but that's another story, so getting the press into the city is pretty impossible! But I'll get there!
you have such an affinity for line, whether pencil, ink, print, wire (and as i see above) clay... what i like here SO much is the shadow your last finch creates.
